Do you Need a Friend?

Do you need a friend?

Someone who knows everything about you?  You know, the kind you don’t have to explain why you are the way you are.  When you’re together with this person you’re so at peace.  You know you don’t have to take care of them, you don’t have to do anything, just hang out.  And they’ll be listening to everything you have to say because they want to!  Not just to be polite.  That was my conversation with God yesterday.

I’ve begun to try something new with God.  It’s called listening.  I’m pretty good at telling God my problems, and complaining as well, but listening?  Well, that’s definitely not my strength.  I decided to try out this new brilliant idea  while I go on walks.  I take a full hour (it takes that long to get me to listen) and usually begin my walk with worry.  There are so many things that I need to think about, contemplate, figure out, solve, and that’s usually where my mind goes.  Many times I get myself into despair, as I finally have time to think about my problems, and then that there is no answer.  So, I’ll try to find someone to blame as though that’s going to help.  Let’s see, who’s responsible for my dilemma today? Jill Austin is Dancing with the Angels

January 11th, 2009

We are stunned.  We cannot believe sweet Jill is in heaven.  I smile when I say that, because how many times did she go there in her spirit?  I think she constantly lived between heaven and earth, never fully here, showing us the way to live.  Mike and I were reminiscing this morning, thinking about what a good person she was.  I don’t think I ever saw her angry or unhappy.  Always smiling and talking about the one she loved.  We ache for the hurt she’s been through these last few years and talking to God about that.

Do angels surround us?

JULY/2008

Christian and I decided to try out his new bike today.  We rode all the way to the pier and drove out on the wooden planks amidst all of the crowds of summer.  Different languages were overheard in every direction and I thought at times we were in a foreign country due to the lack of English being spoken.  We stopped for some popcorn and candy in Christian’s favorite candy store, fed some pigeons and every hungry seagull and jumped on our bikes for home.

I tried to make it a fun game, to take our minds off the pedaling. I asked Christian what would God want him to do if we took the video games out of his bedroom.  Let’s try and listen and see what God says.  Christian got quiet and said “invention, high flying, planes, yellow and paint”.  Hmm, not sure what all that was.  But a good practice to listen to God.  “Oh ya mom.  At surf camp a few weeks ago Jacob told us to listen to God and see what He wanted to tell us and God said ‘I will be returning my child and it will be very soon’”.   Of course to Christian, that was just another day with God and he didn’t know why God would tell him that.  I’m thinking I’m a little freaked.  Did God really say that?  Why would he tell Christian that?  Did someone tell Christian that and he just thought it sounded cool?  Why do I always doubt Christian really hears the things he does from God?  It makes sense that God would talk to Christian.  He doesn’t have all these unbelief systems in place like mine that take forever to process anything I hear because I think I really didn’t hear God…..I want to be like a child!  Like Christian!

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN CALLED A NIT PICKER?

December 9th, 2008

Have you ever wondered where that word came from?  Well, for those of you that don’t know, listen up.

I was looking down at Christian’s head last night, trying to see what in the world was causing so much itching and I saw some red spots!  What in the world, and suddenly, it came screeching into my mind.  Lice!  Yes, there was some kind of memo sent home from school.  A few weeks ago, I had checked Christian’s head, all was good, and I threw it away,  Now what was it that it said?  What were the signs?  What should I do?  Something about shampoo… Read more »

Encouraging marketplace people:

A few years ago Mike asked God “Who do you say I am?” God answered, “I’ve made you to be a guide.” That was a turning point in both Mike and Robbie’s life. They started a consulting business (Frank consulting) focused on providing “frank” advice to primarily Christian marketplace leaders and organizations.

Mike has always been a student of high performing individuals and companies. He loves to discover why some succeed and others don’t. From those learnings he shares with others the formulas for success. This sharing can happen in many ways. Sometimes he provides executive coaching to a leader. Other times he becomes a consultant to the business or an advisor as a board member.

Recently Mike and Robbie have taken this passion and started sharing by speaking to Christian/faith based entities and combining their love for Jesus and His kingdom with the marketplace success message and brought vision, encouragement and empowerment to marketplace leaders and “Kings”.
